Myth Salon: Time, Timing and Synchronicity with Christophe le Mouël

On Wednesday June 14, the Myth Salon will once again be joined by Christophe Le Mouël, Executive Director of the Jung Institute, who will facilitate a discussion about “Time, Timing and Synchronicity.” Understandably, we are deeply honored that Christophe has developed an affinity for what we are all doing. Among the many concepts we will explore are the ancient Greek notions of Kairos and Chronos.  But we will consider how some people seem to have a knack for being in the right place at the right time – a kind of court sense, a sort of parking place, that enables them to flow like a master in the game of life.  How we experience time - and space – influences our personal and cultural values and priorities.  Think of time as the animal of the imagination and how we engage both the temporal and the eternal creates the rhythms that are life–defining.

In this Myth Salon, we will explore the possible connection of the concepts of the quantum and the self. In very particular ways, the classical and quantum sciences help us understand the relations between the ego and the self, the self and the collective, and the soul and the cosmos.  Christophe will illustrate with dreams and other materials the process of transformation of the western God image which increasingly points to the importance of individual experience. As Jung showed in his work, the individual is destined to become, the Sensorium Dei, i.e., the sense organ through which God becomes aware of His creation.

Christophe Le Mouël, Ph.D., was trained as a quantum physicist and did theoretical research in high energy physics for several years in France and Greece. He also worked as a project manager at the National Center for Nuclear Energy in Paris, France, before moving to Los Angeles in 2007. Fascinated by the connection of physics and psychology, he lectured internationally on this topic. He is currently the Executive Director of the C.G. Jung Institute of Los Angeles and the Science Editor of the Jungian journal Psychological Perspectives.

Our Myth Salon will continue to explore new frontiers of the human psyche and the natural world, probing the depths as well as the surface phenomena of human events.  We invite your participation, encourage you to share our salon idea with your friends and colleagues, and hope that you will join us at this and future Myth Salons.
