The Oracle of Apollo at Delphi by Prof. John Lenz


This is a discussion of the oracle of Apollo at Delphi, which played an important role in ancient Greece from the 8th century BCE on and is also the subject of many myths. The session will include a documentary of around 30 mins followed by the discussion on the oracle and ancient Greek religion. Please ask questions. John R. Lenz is Chair of the Department of Classics at Drew University in Madison, NJ, USA, where he has taught since 1994. He received his Ph.D. in Classical Studies from Columbia University (NY). He taught at Columbia and other colleges. His interests are in history, philosophy, and the history of ideas. He served for five years as the President and Chair of the Bertrand Russell Society, Inc. (an international society).
