While Wednesday morning may not exactly be anyone’s favorite time, I’m surprised and pleased by how many people have been attending the Talks of Dr. Lionel Corbett. We are now on our third talk in the series: Fundamentalism and its Relationship to Terrorism, each of which will be streamed live on YouTube as well as available on YouTube and other web platforms for subsequent viewing. However, to participate in the recording session and to have an opportunity to ask Dr. Corbett questions, you need to register and attend the talk this coming Wednesday morning, May 20 from 9:30AM to 11:30AM PST. Working closely with author, professor and religious scholar, Dr. F. Gard Jameson, my good friend and Myth Salon colleague Dr. Will Linn and I are seeking to explore new frontiers of scholarship during the time of everyone’s home confinement. These Zoom sessions are working sessions where Dr. Corbett delivers material sufficient for an hour of edited material.
Lionel Corbett, MD, is a Jungian Psychoanalyst, trained in medicine and psychiatry in England, as a Jungian Analyst at the C.G. Jung Institute of Chicago. His work is based on the idea of interconnectivity, that by working in groups on individual material, we bring transformative consciousness to the greater whole. Dr. Corbett is a founding member and Executive Director of Psyche and the Sacred: A Contemplative Community (PSCC, est. 2016), a non-profit community that gathers through lectures and dreamwork seminars. Dr. Corbett is core-faculty at Pacifica Graduate Institute where he teaches depth psychology in the Depth, Archetypal and Jungian Studies, and Integrative Therapies and Healing Practices doctoral programs. A renowned international scholar, he has written and presented professional papers at APA and Jungian conferences in Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America. He has authored five books: Psyche and The Sacred, The Religious Function of the Psyche, The Sacred Cauldron: Psychotherapy as a Spiritual Practice, The Soul in Anguish: Psychotherapeutic approaches to Suffering, and Understanding Evil: A Psychotherapist’s Guide. Dr. Corbett is also co-editor of Jung and Aging, Depth Psychology: Meditations in the Field, Psychology at the Threshold, and Psyche’s Stories: Jungian Interpretations of Fairy Tales.
We anticipate The Talks of Dr. Lionel Corbett will be extremely engaging and a rare opportunity to participate in the coming together of a fascinating lecture series that will enrich students, scholars, healers and practitioners for many years to come.
