"ReMembering Thomas the Rhymer: A Journey Beyond the Veil"
Join us for an enlightening evening with Maiden Mother Crone CIC, as we present a captivating talk on the legendary figure of Sir Thomas de Ercildoun, also known as Thomas the Rhymer. Hosted by the distinguished quartet Dawn Eva Berry - Alchemist, Mary W Craig - historian and author, Dr. Rosalie Bouck - philosopher, and Dr. Will Linn - mythologist, this event promises to be an immersive exploration into the myths and truths of a man who danced with the fairies and returned with the gifts of poetry, truthfulness, and prophecy.
About the Event:
Sir Thomas de Ercildoun, a Scottish landowner, was said to have been abducted to the land of the fairies where he received three extraordinary gifts: poetry, truthfulness, and prophecy. Though often reduced to a mere figure in a fairy tale, these gifts hold deeper truths that resonate even today. In this talk, we will delve into the legend of Thomas the Rhymer, unravelling the real significance of his three gifts and their relevance in contemporary times.
Series Context:
This talk is part of our "ReMembering" work, within the series "Stories from the Edge of Chaos." In this series, we explore the lives of individuals who ventured beyond societal norms, embracing chaos and transformation. These figures, often misunderstood and ostracised, were in fact pioneers, bringing back treasures of insight and innovation from their journeys.
Our "ReMembering" series is not merely a retrospective glance but a vital act of integrating these tales back into our collective consciousness. By weaving their stories into the fabric of our memory, we transform our understanding of these characters from outcasts to heroes, from subjects of fear to beacons of courage. They answered the hero's call, stepping into the realm of chaos—a place both special and magical, where true transformation occurs.
